'Tis the Season

It's that time of year again.  Time for all of us in graduate school to figure out what to do with the pumpkins that looked so good outside our apartments a month ago and to settle in for a long couple weeks of studying, writing papers and preparing presentations.  During my pre-clinical years in medical school it was all exams.  Public Health courses are quite a bit different. Most of my classes have had ongoing projects throughout the semester with periodic papers and assignments related to the same topic. The final project is then either a paper or poster which summarizes our work over the semester and expands on our conclusions and recommendations.   It is a lot of work but it is somewhat spaced out over the last couple week of classes.  I have turned one paper in already, I’ve got a group presentation tomorrow and then a poster and two other papers are due next week.  During finals week I have one exam and one final set of assignments due.   This is a busy and stressful time for students but after this much school, the end of each semester starts to bring a sense of nostalgia.  Currently I am still in the gearing up phase but I think this weekend will bring the coffee shop marathon phase.
